Tell a Friend

The IFBlue IFBR1C is a compact, single-channel bodypack IFB receiver compatible with transmitters available from Lectrosonics including the IFBT4, IFBT4-VHF, or any Digital Hybrid Wireless transmitter in IFB-compatibility mode. It provides simplicity and flexibility in a tough package that is intuitive for untrained users to operate. The receiver is ideal for talent cueing and crew communications, or for directors who need to monitor program audio in broadcast and motion picture production.

The IFBR1C features a rugged, injection-molded ABS housing that's comfortable to wear and easy to conceal. It runs up to twelve hours on two rechargeable AA NiMh batteries (included). The unit's LED indicator changes color from green to red as the battery voltage declines to provide plenty of warning before operation ceases. Up to four IFBR1C can be simultaneously dock-charged with the companion CHSIFBR1C battery charging station (available separately).

The receiver's 3.5mm output drives a wide variety of earbuds, headphones, and induction neck loops—with loads from 16 to 600 ohms—at substantial levels. Monaural earpieces are automatically accommodated with no loss of audio output or battery life. The output jack is also the receiver's antenna input, with the earphone cord acting as the antenna.

A single power/volume knob and intuitive controls with a backlit LCD screen keep operation simple. 10 presets are available, allowing you to store frequencies in memory for quick setup on set. The included wire belt clip makes it easy to secure the receiver on a wide variety of belts, pockets, and fabrics.

In spite of its tiny size, the cost-efficient IFBR1C offers excellent performance on par with all Lectrosonics IFB products.

Reliable, Professional Performance

The IFBR1C uses ±20 kHz FM deviation for efficient use of the bandwidth. The compandor noise-reduction circuitry delivers an excellent signal-to-noise ratio. A supersonic Pilot Tone signal controls the audio output squelch to keep the receiver silent when no transmitter signal is received. The incoming RF signal is filtered and amplified, then mixed down to the IF frequency using a microprocessor-controlled synthesizer.

The receiver's high-sensitivity design provides extended operating range both indoors and outdoors.

One-Knob Operation for Simplicity of Use
The IFBR1C provides simple, one-knob operation for on/off and audio level, and easy, on-the-fly programming with fast frequency adjustments. Basic operation is simply a matter of rotating the knob to turn power on and adjust the volume level.
On the side panel, membrane switches and a backlit LCD interface let you quickly select frequencies and save/recall presets.

10 Frequency Presets
There are 10 presets available for programming the IFBR1C. The stored frequencies remain in memory during power Off and even with the battery removed. Use the Up and Down arrows to scroll through the previously selected frequencies stored in the IFBR1C and quickly change frequencies for quick communication.

Other Features
USB port for firmware updates.
Attached battery door.
Battery life: 10 hours (Alkaline), 12 hours (NiMh), 20 hours and 40 minutes (Lithium).
Side contacts allow for recharging the NiMh batteries without removing them from the the IFBR1C—requires the optional CHSIFBR1C battery charging station (works with NiMh batteries only).

“Our customers have long asked for a value-priced IFB receiver, which extend to a new range of users, and we’ve sought out a partner that could make a high-performance product at a competitive price,” explains Karl Winkler, VP of Sales and Marketing at Lectrosonics. “The new IFBlue receivers and companion charging docks meet and exceed these requirements, while remaining compatible with our existing line of IFB products.”

About IFBlue

IFBlue is a new professional audio technology brand designed, distributed, supported, and warranted by Lectrosonics, Inc. and manufactured by a Korean firm in ISO9001 certified factories in South Korea and China to the highest standards. The IFBlue value-priced line of products are designed to reach an even broader range of customers in the production, film, broadcast, videography, live event, and house of worship applications.

The IFBlue brand consists of products that are designed by, supported by, serviced by and warranted by Lectrosonics. As such, they carry the same quality control, specification requirements and durability factors as any Lectrosonics product. The only difference is that they are NOT made in Rio Rancho, NM but instead built through a working relationship with a Korean manufacturing firm.

Why is it called IFBlue and not Lectrosonics?
The Lectrosonics brand has long been proud of its American-built origins. If it says Lectrosonics, it is made here in Rio Rancho, NM, USA. Since the IFBR1c (first product) is not built in the US, a different brand name would be proper to reflect Lectrosonics longstanding legacy and IFBlue’s intended market positioning.

With regards to the IFBR1c, will there any compromises in performance?
No. Even though the IFBr1c will be priced lower, it walks and listens very well, on a par with the IFBR1b. As we have said, it may be lower cost but it is by no means “cheap”.

What about warranty?
All warranty work is and will be done here at our Rio Rancho factory. It is a one year, full warranty, as you would expect from Lectrosonics. The products may be lower cost but it is by no means cheap and we consider it an investment by the end users just as we do Lectrosonics branded gear.

Is Lectrosonics moving our manufacturing overseas?
Emphatically, NO! We are having these products made overseas because there are considerable savings for Lectrosonics since nearly all the electronic components (ICs, resistors, caps, TCOX, inductors, etc) originates from Asia and the capabilities for high resolution plastic molding are easily available there. For Lectrosonics to acquire the high pressure, high resolution plastic molding equipment, it would drive our costs through the roof. No US jobs will be moved or lost in this new partnership. Lectrosonics branded products will always be made in our Rio Rancho factory. All research & development and design work for IFBlue is and will be done in Rio Rancho by Lectrosonics engineers.

Will there any compromises in quality?
No. In fact, our Korean partner is an ISO9001 certified operation with very sharp QC staff. They have been excellent associates, helping us refine a new product built in ways with which we were not familiar with. With their input, guidance and expertise, we have found an association that may have been risky otherwise. Lectrosonics would not have taken this route if this partner did not meet our rigid expectations and come so highly recommended.

Why would you choose to use IFBR1b or IFB1c
The IFBR1b, like its predecessor the IFBR1a, was designed for the talent and key set players (director, producer, etc). It has the advantage of being very small sized (always popular with key talent and anchors), rugged aluminum housing and ease of use. For these wearers, the size is critical given the need to avoid on-camera bulkiness. However, for the crew, a simple belt pack would work just fine, and even better if the pricing is lower since there would be much more crew than the talents and executives. This is where the IFBue IFB1c would fit the best.
