Balanced XLR male to stripped and tinned leads with a selectable attenuator built into the XLR. Attenuation ratios are -20, -30 and -40 dB. Used to reduce line level signals to mic level inputs into a mixer.

By placing the attenuator at the mixer input (male XLR), ground loop noise is greatly reduced since the cable's shield sees line level signals over all its length.
