White Tac Butyl Tape 18mm x 15m
White Tac Butyl Tape 18mm x 15m
Aggressive Double Sided White Butyl - aka White Tac
A high water-resistant butyl rubber adhesive coated on a polyethylene net to give it dimensional stability with a siliconized kraft paper release liner. The adhesive conforms to rough, textured surfaces and has a wide range of applications for joining, sealing waterproofing and vibration absorption. This white butyl is particularly useful for joining low energy surfaces such as polyolefin, being more aggressive than black butyl.
Uses include; Joining coated tarpaulins and Joining PE Dam liners
An aggressive Double Sided White Butyl 1mm in thickness and is designed to form a permanent moisture / vapour seal between two surfaces.
Ensure the surfaces are clean and dry prior to application, simply remove the release Liner and apply firm pressure.
Typical application include Fixing and Sealing of joints for weatherproofing in construction and civil engineering, Sealing of membranes, repairing coated Tarpaulins and joining PE Dam liners, holding and sealing sisalation in the HVAC industry, mounting of light weight Signage to textured surfaces such as rendered concrete, joining / mounting Corex and Coreflute synthetic board and Vibration isolation of audio parts.
In the marine industry, butyl is often used for bedding in deck fittings, portlights & hatches on boats. Also popular with caravan/RV manufacturers to bed in windows and hatches.
Self-fusing Butyl Tape is used in many applications. The advantage of using butyl rubber in an adhesive format is that it is malleable and impermeable to air and water. It is hard wearing, can be applied to a wide variety of carrier surfaces and is able to be easily applied, thus giving instant results.
Butyl is used in many industries from providing waterproof joining solutions for synthetic turf and water sealing tarpaulins for dams and pond liners, to waterproofing and joining applications for piping, roof flashing, corrugated iron and shower bases. A synthetic rubber, or elastomer, butyl rubber is impermeable to air and used in many applications requiring an airtight rubber seal.
Applications Include:
– Fixing and sealing of joints for waterproofing in construction & civil eng.
– Joining and sealing of membranes
– Holding and sealing of sisalation in the HEVAC industry
– Mounting of light weight signage to textured surfaces e.g. rendered concrete
– Joining/mounting Corex/Corflute
– Vibration isolation of audio parts
A Non-hardening Mastic - Butyl forms a soft resilient compression seal. Allows movement due to expansion/contraction. Butyl will not crack and has a virtually unlimited storage life.
Forms an Immediate Bond - No curing time and no solvent evaporation. Butyl will fuse with nearly any stable solid surface including many low surface energy materials e.g. PE. Can be applied between 5° C and 40° C
Supplied in a Roll - Quick, clean and accurate to install Butyl with a constant coating thickness.
Visco-Elastic - If Butyl bonds are broken it will re-adhere to itself on contact (self-healing). Absorbs vibrations.
Resists Water Vapour Transmission - Butyl is ideal for permanent waterproof seals.
Chemically Inert - Butyl is safe to use and environmentally friendly. Butyl is resistant to alkalis, acids and salts. Butyl is resistant to oxidation and has good UV resistance.
Retains Elasticity - Versatility of use for all climates and conditions: -30° to 120° C (short term)
Breaking Load:27.4 N/cm
Adhesion to Steel:15.7 N/cm
Service Temperature:-30°C to 80°C
Storage Temperature:15°C to 25°C
Shelf Life:12 Months
PLEASE NOTE: Not recommended for putting over any silicon sealant, clean silicon sealant away thoroughly before using Butyl Tape
Storage: Tapes stored below the minimum application temperature will require warming up to that level before use. Up to 24 hours may be required for this to take place.
