The many uses of fluoro tape

One of the wonderful things about fluoro tape is its diversity—it’s a much-loved item across a variety of different industries, and wildly popular for personal use as well.

Many people use fluoro tape to call attention to something. For example, on film and television sets, professionals will often mark where they need to place equipment, or where broadcasters and actors need to stand, using fluoro tape to mark spots on a dark floor. Theatre companies will often do the same, so that set pieces are consistently placed in the exact same spot scene after scene.

Event planners might use fluoro tape to mark hazards they want people to watch out for, like an unexpected step or a head-level overhang.

Teachers are also fond of fluoro tape for identifying pieces of classroom equipment. Their students will also love the vibrant colours.

Of course, fluoro tape can be used outside of professional settings as well. You can use it to label certain items around your home, or even employ it as a fun way to add some bright colours to an otherwise drab wall, piece of furniture, or clothing item.

Choosing the right fluoro tape for the job

There are a number of decisions one must make when shopping for fluoro tape.

Of course, the first choice you’ll have to make comes down to colour. At John Barry, we offer everything from fluorescent pink fluoro tape to shockingly bright green fluoro tape, and of course the classic yellow. For something more subdued (but still highly visible), you can opt for a cool blue, or go bold with traffic-cone orange fluoro tape

Can’t choose just one colour? No worries—check out our Pro Tapes Pro Spike Tape Stack, which has five colours all in one.

In addition to colour, you need to consider how thick you want your fluoro tape to be. For simple marking of items, thin rolls like the 12mm x 45m tapes will do the trick. But if you plan to write on the tape as well, you may want to go with a thicker option, like this 2” gaff tape
